As part of a task for this year’s FESTICALP, we were asked to recreate a social media post from last year’s edition as a visual test. I chose to reinterpret the original with a more dynamic layout and a stronger visual identity, using iconic symbols of cinema such as a film projector and a reel with frames from classic national films. I kept the original color palette, but inverted the dominance of blue and white, placing white at the forefront. The composition follows a diagonal structure with two clearly defined empty spaces on the sides, giving the piece a clean yet engaging feel.
Each film frame in the reel was generated in Photoshop from actual stills of national movies, which I first converted to grayscale and then to indexed color using a pattern dither mode to simulate a halftone texture, giving the final piece a stylized, print-inspired look.
To create the projector, the film reel, I used vector illustration and composed everything together inside Adobe Illustrator.
